This is the moment we have waited so long for!  On behalf of all the members of your selection committee I am happy to announce that The Reverend Canon John Anderson, currently the incumbent at the Church of the Ascension, Port Perry has accepted the position of incumbent here at St. James starting September 15th. Canon Anderson was ordained as a priest in 2010 and is a graduate of Wycliffe College, Queen’s University and McMaster Universities. Canon Anderson and his wife Lisa are looking forward to returning to the Orillia/Oro -Medonte area where the lived and worked for sixteen years before he went into ministry.

Lisa works full time for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario as a Decision Administrator.

The Anderson family includes twenty-year-old twins, Gareth and Maggie, both of whom are talented musicians with Gareth studying at Harvard and Maggie at Julliard.  To round out their family is Kimmy Bumble a 13 1/5-year-old Labrador.

Canon Anderson describes his ministry style as “respecting the liturgical and sacramental diversity of Anglicanism, through a broad-church liturgical style.  Balancing the traditions of parish culture while being open and responsive to the changing needs and styles of the wider societal culture.”  Rev Anderson prefers to work collaboratively with laity to promote their special gifts, skills and abilities and is looking forward to contributing to St. James’ vision of our church.
